From my understanding of these services is that both will work even if you don't have a cell phone with you. So if you forget to bring your phone (which a friend of mine does often) or you are in an area where you do not have cell coverage, you will still be able to contact someone for directions or in the event of an emergency.

I renew SOS because if I'm driving alone at night it's nice to know that in a sudden emergency I can just press that SOS button. It would be too awkward to search for the cell phone and call or find it on the navigation screen. It's also comforting to know that in an accident it would automatically call. Most driving is done in the safe areas but occasionally one does need to travel in less desire able places.

I've renewed too mostly because of the incident I mentioned above. I was in no shape to enter the hospital address. Calling Destination Assist saved precious time in an emergency situation. I'm very grateful for the operator who helped me and knowing someone is there to help.

I have found the eDestination uploading useful. I haven't had need for the in-car call for directions. The annual renewal fee seems high for what I use it for. I do like the traffic info, but that seems tied to the XM subscription. I would like to see all the Nav features included in the Lexus subscription. Thankfully I have until next year before my complimentary term runs out and I have to decide on the renewal.

Yes, your Pandora will still work without a plan renewal. The apps suite of Enform is now free. You only have to pay for Destinations and Safety Connect, if you so choose.

Does the Pandora App require a Cell Phone with Data or is it independent ?

Is $139 the best price per year (less 5% if you pay for 2 years, 8% 3 years)

There is no magic. Your cell phone and it's data plan connects to Pandora, just as if you didn't have a car, then your phone connects to the car and the (now free) Enform Apps that play it through your cars Infotainment system. If you don't have a supported cell phone, connectivity, and a data plan with your carrier, you can't play Pandora in your car. Same thing with other apps like Facebook, Bing, etc.

Only the Lexus Apps, aka eDestinations and Safety Connect will work without a cell phone, as they use a built-in cellular capability in your car -- that's part of the reason those services cost what they do is you're paying for the service connection plus the service itself.
