Default Any issues with the 2010 Lexus RX350? Looking at it for the wife...

Looking at the 2010 or 2011 RX350 for the wife, she currently has a 2004. We like purchasing CPO because of the extended warranty and the extra sense of security.

Any issues with the 2010 or 2011 models? I know it wont have the spindle grill which looks pretty cool but we have been very satisfied with her 2004 RX and we enjoy the reliability that it has provided us.

Thanks!

Pinipig -- no pervasive issues. I suggest you just scan through a few pages looking at the subjects in this forum and opening up any of interest for topics people have been talking about. Also suggest you look at this FAQ, as several of the articles it points to at the top may be helpful -- early gen 3 reviews, key options to look for, as well as differences between the 2010-12 to 13 so you know what changed in the midlife update last year.

They updated a few items on the 2010 later in the model year because it really came out early. Check the build date.

Important things like laminated side glass to reduce wind noise as a major item I can think of.

I have had my 2010 450h for a couple weeks now From what I have read here I assume it is an early build because it has the sunglass holder above the windshield. The window sticker says "Ship Date == 8/9/09". How would I know if the glass is laminated or not. Thanks for any answers.

On the driver and passenger windows it will say "Laminated" and I think it also says "Solarguard". Also, feel the top edge of the glass itself. The laminated glass has two bumps from the two panes that are laminated together.

My wife had a 2004 and I got her a 2010 four months ago, she loves it. It is quieter and the seats are more comfortable. I will be getting a 2011 next year.

BertL made great suggestions. Nothing stands out in my mind. There are some differences between the '10 and '11. The glass has been mentioned. Early '10 models have a sunglass holder. Those are or soon will be out of basic warranty time wise as Lexus added Enform around August of 2009. An update took care of iPod scrolling problem on pre February 2010 builds. The '11 has brake override and a more accessible power outlet underneath the gear shifter. But it lost Lexus on the tailgate. And there are some colors added/taken away. Hardly problems but worth mentioning. I went from an '04 330 to the '10 450h myself. The cabin has a more cavernous feeling. Even the steering wheel felt different. But with all the additional features - bluetooth, usb, available remote touch - it's all good. My RXh has been bullet proof so far.

Make sure you check all the alloy wheels. Lexus is a pain for refurbished wheels, more often than not, they get it wrong and it looks different to the rest

Thanks ecr72;

I checked and it says "Lamisafe" on the window and could see and feel the 2 layers of glass. I guess I have an early build with laminated glass and sunglass holder. It was a CPO purchase so I have 3yr to find out if anything major is wrong and have it fixed. Thanks to everyone for the info.
