Default Transmission Issue

Just acquired 2011 RX350 with 168,000 miles. From first to second gear at about 20mph, the transmission slips then is ok. What causes this?

Thanks

I think most would agree to have the ATF checked immediately, if not sooner.

If someone tries to fix after taking procession, they may loose the opportunity to cancel sale.

If you have no option but to keep, then let the tech make the choice but I recommend against a flush, There is plenty of discussion on this topic.

I am a bit surprised that 1st to 2nd shift is at 20mph. I would have thought that due to economy the transmission would shift sooner. Only bringing it up as t it seems odd.[ I have the hybrid, which has a different transmission].

My 2015 used to have a similar transmission slip behavior around 20mph until I changed the old transmission fluid for Valvoline Max Life fluid with anti-slip additive. The low speed slippage is gone now.

I recommend that you try to change your old transmission fluid and add a anti-slip additive to account for a worn transmission clutch, because sometimes just adding new OEM like fluid without any additional friction compound can cause a transmission to slip even more if the clutches are very worn. I would use Valvoline MaxLife transmission fluid because it already have the anti-slip additive mixed into the fluid in the proper ratio.
