Valet Parking and Key Fob
This might sound like a stupid question but my wife and I are going to wedding tomorrow that offers valet parking.
I'm not to thrilled about $3.00 a hour throttle jock parking my 2012 RX.
So what happens, do I give them my key fob with other keys attached so them can unlock and lock the RX?
How can I avoid any damage to my RX when I turn my baby over to them.
I never used valet parking before.
Cheers!

Like others have posted, there is no reason to use valet parking ever if you don't want to. I've not used it since back in the 90's and I had a big GMC King Cab truck then, not what they generally take for joy rides . From trips to Emory hospital to downtown events where valet parking was normal I've researched in advance and found very easy ways around it that usually were less expensive as well.

Thanks, I feel most feel the same way I do when using valet parking, but on the other hand,
there must be 90% of people using it, especially the elderly in poor health regardless of what they drive.
I never had this choice before, and just wanted to get your opinions,
Thanks Again.

I never have had any problem valet parking my RX. It's a great car, and I'm crazy about it, but frankly it's a very, very common car and valets get to see some pretty neat rides. An RX is just another SUV to them, and they would not elect to spend any of their extra time with an RX when they have so many other, much more unusual vehicles to pick from.
Also, valets at a wedding are pretty busy and pretty visible - it's not the type of valet situation where vehicle-abuse problems happen.
Enjoy the cake and don't worry about it.

^^ I agree. I worry about valet but when I am at a high end place or hotel, I let them do it because they are usually more competent. Also, they see cars of much higher caliber at those places so the RX is really a no big deal kind of car.

As I said, I never worry about my RX in the hands of a valet, since it's such a commonplace car. When my SC was new and very unusual, however, and I was in a valet-necessary situation (usually a restaurant), I would usually hand the valet an extra $5 or $10 and say "Keep an eye on this for me, would you?" Invariably I would return to find it parked right by the front door and ready to go. Besides, valets usually park the ogle-worthy cars (Porsche, Bentley, Ferrari, etc) at the front anyway to add some ambiance. Sadly, even the SC does not rate this treatment any more.

Let me start with the phrase " ignorance is Bliss".
I challenge every member here to review the liabilities covered by your valet person/ company.
As far as i know. There is none.
So if the valet driver hit another car or God forbid a pedestrian.. Guess who's going to have the headache.
You. Your insurance will be billed. Not the agency that handled the valet.
If something went missing from your car. Let say theft from being parked in a shady street. guess how much the company will compensate you. Zero point Zero.
Valet, is one of those things that seems harmless until the unexpected happened...like texting while crossing the street.
My brother got a parking ticket because a valet "kid" parked it too close to the fire hydrant.
He was never informed by the valet guy that there was a ticket.
He got the bad news in the mail, when the penalty was doubled. The city assumed that he simply ignored the 7-14 day window to pay the ticket.

You may be right
http://www.dailyfinance.com/2009/12/...ages-your-car/
"You'll probably find that the place you parked posts signs stating that they are not responsible for damage to your vehicle. They can do this because they've likely hired an independent company to handle the parking. When you see those signs it usually means the valet company is the one required to carry its own insurance and insure its employees against damage to the vehicles they park."
"If the damage is severe and you need to have the work done immediately, you can file a claim through your insurance company and let them collect it for you. But if you must do that, you will have to pay your deductible and hope the insurance company can collect that money for you."
