Default CD Player Display

No matter what music CD I play, the TRACK, DISC, and ARTIST boxes always show "(NO DATA)" on my CD nav screen. Is there something wrong with my CD player?

I don't think that is the case. I believe that this information is a function of the information available on the CD itself.

Mine is the same way. The same CD's that read in my old Mercedes do no read on the Lexus. They don't have the software. Probably would cost them an extra 30 bucks, but nooooo.

Default C/D Text

I make all my C/Ds for my car using iTunes.

You have to select " Include CD Text " to get the information on the disc. If you have the disc made with this selected. It will show up on the display.

On my old store bought C/Ds. Its hit or miss on if there is the text shown.

Ditto, that worked for me as well. But I hardly use them anymore. I have lots more available with more control on iPod.

Yep! CD players may be going the way of 8 tracks before long. They already have for me!

I love the flexibility of hours and hours of my music from my iPhone over Bluetooth! Better than satellite, except you never hear anything new!

Unless you don't have the Nav, you have much more control using the mouse to select music with it plugged in via USB. Also keeps the iPod charged up.

the sound quality of a CD is unmatched with the mp3 or the AAC that you downloaded from itunes.
that's the downsize of compression, unless you know how to do it properly.
going back to the topic, the data is embedded on the CD as others have stated.
Newer CDs have it and you can actually see them even if you have the non Navi RX

Yes and no! I use both CD's and iPhone via the bluetooth function but you lose some practical functions we have with CD's.
HDD is nice too but it's a mess when we want to download track by track, it's not firendly user at all (lack of ergonomics).
The sound with bluetooth function is really amazing with the Mark Levinson audio. Really excellent and pure sound.
