Doesn't work. Go to a quite mall after the holidays, park far away from everyone, and by the time you come back you will find cars parked all around you for no apparent reason with the lot still fairly empty elsewhere.

I know that with our Camry the doors get dinged above the moldings. So I will keep parking out in Left Field and hike to my Office. My RX looks cleaner without side door moldings.

Actually, it really does work for me. Once in awhile that happens, but I am two plus years with virgin sides to my car. Knock wood

Perhaps I never parked far enough away.

Got ours on eBay from a Lexus dealer in Dallas, the dealer in Atlanta installed then for free at the first service interval. I also ordered the all weather floor mats and mud gaurds; all set for the winter weather.

I got my moldings from Sewell and then chickened out at self-install time for fear of messing up. I got it installed for $50 from a local body shop. At the ends of the molding, I notice a small "gap" - please see picture taken from the top of the molding. The installer assured me that the molding will not come off.

When I tried pressing the molding in, it gave in a bit and then when I released the pressure, the small gap returned. I can see that the double-sided tape is sticking to the molding and the body. So it is not a real gap with air or empty space in between. But compared to the left and right of the blue oval marks I have put in the picture, the molding is not hugging the body. Is this normal fitment? From a side view, the "gap" is not very visible.

if i recall, the double sided tape is not all the way to the edge of the molding, therefore it might leave a tiny gap at its edges. However being plastic, if there is any "memory" to it, the gap will be more pronounced. I'm not sure if you can fix that while the molding is on the car, but i'd try first with a heat gun to relieve it. Otherwise, remove the molding, heat it up and re-affix with new 3m auto double-sided tape.

I just bought a set of Lexus RX OEM side mouldings off eBay moments ago. They are the correct color (077) to match our RX (Starfire Pearl). Price was $125 with FREE shipping. Sewell charges $133 plus shipping.

I will report back on the installation, maybe with photos. I've put these on other cars and it's amazingly easy.

RickC5, you might want to cancel that eBay order. With the CL discount, Sewell drops to $97.60 plus $12 and change for shipping. I used the zip code from my old Denver address. So you're talking $110.

Create an account with Sewell to get the discounted price. It pays to be a member

Maybe next time, Anita. I've got a FULL PayPal account that was burning a hole in my pocket, and these mouldings come from a real Lexus dealer in northern California that I have bought from before, also on eBay. They ship lightning fast.

Anyway, perhaps I need to revisit Sewell, as I thought I had an account with them and got the discounted price--obviously NOT--since I've been a member here for over two years, and have bought from Sewell before too.

My long sad story to order side molding for 2012 Tungsten Pearl 1G1 from ebay:
I ordered from 1st dealer (Texas) they confirmed that color $84, a week later I got the refund, Out of stock.
I ordered from 2nd dealer (Az) $99. same thing a week later cancel, Discontinued.
I check the Sewell website it said discontinued too.
I found another dealer on ebay has the exact P/N and color $105. I got a FedEx tracking no, one week gone by still no show. Call FedEx they said they never got the info to pick up the package.
Contact the ebay seller they said that day when they ship FedEx guy had problem with his scanner. So they will follow up and let me know..

Mine arrived today. Five days since I bought them off eBay. Genuine Lexus parts, correct matching color. Installed in about 45 minutes: 30 minutes for one side, 15 for the other. Super easy & they look great. Extremely pleased with the service & how they look on the truck.

Default The Importance of Side Guards

Below is a picture of my side guards I had installed in '012 on my black RX350 with the first scuff mark.

They also seem to be installed at the correct height for anything that bumps against it.
