Salt and Washing
Just wondering how offend you northern owners wash your RX living in states were road salt is a big problem?
I'm really peta about my 2012 RX 350, and being jet black doesn't help.
Here in Wisconsin the way this winter is, I could run it through a car wash twice a week.
Also, I prefer "brush less" car washing bays, or better yet, hand washing it myself.
How about you?
Cheers!

I am in WInnipeg and this year has been very warm and slushy. I go to the wand wash once a week to get the dirt off. My rule of thumb is once the headlights need to be cleaned I will go and quickly wash off the car. It is not perfect but i can tell its black again and see out the windows.
When we get a warmer day hopefully around or above freezing then I give it a quick had wash with sheepskin, 2 buckets and Optimum No RInse which is awsome for cold weather.

Before joining the RX clan on Club Lexus, I lurked for awhile and saw the dedication of the famous "I-wash-often-even-when-it's-bad-for-my-health" Anita. My role model!!!
When out of town and frequently at home, I use a touchless car wash to rinse the underside of the car. Normally I hand wash and often.
Having and maintaining a good coat of sealant helps.
Only if out of town and I can't find a touchless do I use a wash where brushes or people with dirty towels touch my Obsidian black RX.

I wash mine at a touchless wash (PetroCanada) about once a week just to get the salt off. For those who are clean freaks PetroCanada offers a card that allows one touchless wash a day for 90 days. An Audi driving friend takes his car every single day using one of these passes but I haven't got that obsessive yet.
I have my RX detailed at the dealer whenever it gets serviced. The dealer has a really good detailing crew, the manager ran a local detail shop for a number of years before the economy got bad. I gave up hand washing my cars back in the 1970's

No, I don't play soccer!
Well, last winter we had our share of snow and salt covered RXs. I kinda miss it Now it's not much of a challenge to get out there and wash the 450h. I do mine year round the good old fashioned way at least once a week, every two weeks if it's really cold out. Absolutely no car washes for me.

I notice on my '12 black RX that after driving on a long trip in wet weather, the road splash
on the hood is still there after a brush-less wash.
In that case hand washing still is better.

Right. High pressure washes are good for getting off the surface dirt and grime but the film and harsher stains will still remain unless you go through a car wash with those curtain looking things and brushes or you hand wash.
