^^ the odo has nothing to do with the calculations. Honestly, my computer reads less than 14 mpg on the 2GenRX if I only drive in the city. Idle time is indeed calculated as well. Actually people spend a lot of time idling, so Im not surprised by those numbers.

Try this. Before you know you are about to enter a freeway for some time, resete both the tank avg and the total avg. That way you can see if there is really an error because you should be getting mid 20s on the freeway.

We were pulling in 27mpg going 55mph the other day on a 60k trip. I was really impressed with that. Better than my 01 ES & Seville, and right on par if not slightly better than the 03 ES.

I never trust the cars computer, I always figure out mileage manually.

ChitChat, you can reset your avg-mpg & avg-mph #'s by holding in the enter key on your steering wheel for a few secs

not sure if mpg ever resets itself automatically or not, so 18 could be your avg since you've owned the vehicle

reset the avg-mpg next time you're going to be on the highway a while & see what you get for highway only driving

Thumbs up

Interesting report. It's pretty similar to my RX350 results last year. To me, 50-55 MPH is the best cruising speed on the highway.

Love to see the chart like this.

I should have others, but couldn't find them now. Maybe I had the backup in one of my HDs...
