I rode as a passenger and got the same symptoms, although I do think they are lessening! I think it is may actually be the windshield. It feels almost like I am wearing glasses made for someone with a strong prescription (I do not wear glasses). If I focus my eyes in one area all is well, but when I look up or down quickly, it happens again.
With the windows open I do feel much better, so I still have not ruled out the fumes.

From what you've described, it sounds like motion sickness. Motion sickness can be caused by all sorts of things - anxiety about travelling, mode of travelling and poor ventilation in a vehicle (explains why you have to open you're window).

One contributing factor could be a relative issue based on the previous car you drove. Was it a low slung sedan ?
RX has a much higher seating position with very good visibility all around, including the roof. +/- same wheelbase but higher up will have an effect. My wife noticed it in ours as soon as we bought it. She had driven sedans previously.
I've always driven a 4X4 F150, higher still & longer. Get into a sedan cruising at what I think is about 65MPH, look down at the speedo & it's really only 50MPH. The road seems to be going by at the same rate as in the higher truck, but I'm seated much lower, almost on the ground.

I would have the windshield checked by an ophthalmologist or an optometrist. One that does house calls in the parking lot. : ) Seriously, a person in the optical field of medicine is best suited to check your windshield, in my opinion.

kind a late to answer to the original post but wanted to share my experience.
over the last summer I switched from a 328 to 2012 RX. the first 2 weeks I took the ownership of the car I was super depressed as both my wife and I had neck pain, dizziness. etc.. I was feeling super upset that I shouldn't have sold my bimmer. only took 2 weeks to get used it. it's due to center of gravity being higher in the suv.
After getting used to it won't go back to 3 series again
