Default Experience with changing C-Best setting

I had an odd experience when I took my '04 RX330 in for the 1600km checkup (Canada).

I figured I would have a couple of annoying settings changed, namely the behaviour of the door locks (when shifted into Park, and one-touch for all doors on the remote).

Seemed simple enough, right?

I told the service advisor I wanted to change a couple of C-Best settings....he looked at me like I was speaking a foreign language. I repeated myself. Same result.

I then explained what I wanted..."...Y'know, those programmable settings...." He finally got a clue.

What's with that?? The Lexus service advisor not knowing about the C-Best settings?!? Is this term not used everywhere for all Lexus vehicles? Could it be known by some other term in Canada?

They did the work, but I was a little weirded out by his reaction.

fwiw, i was just in for service and when the dealer locked my car up with the keys inside, I mentioned Cbest settings offhandedly, as I'd really like to get the doors to autolock when I get the car to speed - uh, kinda like some regular domestic minivans I ride in - and the attendant knew what I meant.

I had several C-Best settings changed on our 1000 service. The dealer was very familiar with the options and the "C-Best" term and made the changes with no questions asked. I would guess it was just a function of your particular service tech not being up to speed.

My experience is similar with the original post. The service advisor have only a very vague idea about C-best when I ask for an option change but the tech who does the real work knows about it well. My experience with the so call "Service advisor" are they are basically clerks processing your orders. Some of them are smart and especially if they have work in the dealer long enough they will be more knowledgeable otherwise the best person to talk to are the techs themselves.
