Had the same sounding rattle and took it to the Reno dealer. It turned out to be the remote control in the center console of the back seat. Have to admit the dealer had a hard time finding it though. Wife said it was on the drivers side. The driver said it was on the wife's side. The dealer said the sound in the RX travels like a barrel and could come from anywhere.

Glad I found it though. It was driving me nuts.

An absolutely fabulious car. Glad I got in on the first run.

Default Creaking seat-fixed

After oiling the seat rail botton bracket junction the seat creaking is gone. Anybody have an update with the rattling multi-panel moonroof?

Thanks for the update. Just took a look at the seat bracket, where exactly did you apply the oil? Did you remove the plastic covering to get at it? The railing is attached the the floor bracket by two large rivets and there is also some sort of bracket attached to the underside of the rail on the right bracket which I didn't notice before. I'm curious of it's purpose? Thanks again for the info.

Default oiling the bracket

I have to take off the plastic cover and you'll notice that the rail is not only riveted to the bracket, the bracket actually clamps on to the seat rail on both sides and the creak is coming from where the bottom bracket clamps on to the seat rail. In my case I have my wife sit on the driver seat and push back on the seat back and you can feel and hear the creak coming from the clamp area and it was therefore easy to locate and oil. I only use a very light oil and this morning there is a very small creak with the engine off and I was listening very very carefully. If the creak gets louder I will use a more viscous oil. Hope that helps.

I'll weigh in also -- our 2004 RX 300 began its life with a rattle -- similar to the one described in other posts -- somewhere in the front-passenger seating area. The noise seems to be loudest in cold conditions and almost disappears when someone is seated in the front passenger seat.

Oh well, Lexi are wonderful cars and SUVs -- I'll put up with the annoying winter rattle...
