I have a few cracks on my RX330 also. In Texas the summer temps often exceed 100 degrees so I'm not surprised some cracking occurred.
The dash and wood on the steering wheel become so hot that it would probably cause burns

it is most definitely issue with second gen lexus quality rather than temperature/weather/etc.
1998 RX300, sitting in same weather, using same kind of internal detailing products has no issues 16 years after manufacture.
2004 RX300 (yes this is a trim available outside of the US), Dash falls apart. Literally standing side by side in their parking slots over the years..

And a sun shade helps as well. As much as 70% of the sunlight entering the vehicle comes thru the windshield, or so I've read somewhere.

Miles aren't going to mean anything when it comes to a dash..It has no moving parts so it is going to be all about age. Furthermore, cracking could be caused from certain cleaning products and not have anything to do with Lexus' quality. Also, a cracked dash poses no safety issue that would make Lexus do any kind of recall. So regardless of how many people have had issues with the dash (which are quite a lot of RX owners, including myself) I doubt Lexus will ever do anything.
Lastly, $200 for an oil change? What do they use, gold oil?! My Lexus Dealership charges $40 for an oil change, tire rotation, and carwash...Plus they have great snacks and fresh cookies and they even leave boxes of chocolates in the cup holders when it's done. Even my old BMW dealership was $100 bucks for an oil change and on that car I only had to have an oil change every 15k miles instead of every 5k. Sounds like that dealership is ripping everyone off.

Hi Larry, Since I wrote that post, Lexus of Portland raised their oil change/tire rotation price to $66 for synthetic blend. They usually have a coupon on their website for $15 bucks off though. And yes...BMW uses full synthetic and the oil change interval is 15000 miles (at least on the X3). The cost for an oil change at Portland BMW was $105.
