Creeking driver's seat
Hello,
I'm looking for some advice. On a recent road trip I noticed the drivers seat was making creeking noises while driving over road-irregularities. Initially I thought something may be underneath the seat but I found nothing.
I noticed when my wife was driving the creeking noises disappeared, my wife is about a third of my size.
Back in the driver's seat the creeking noise return. I then decided to stretch my legs against the firewall and the drivers seat rocked a little.
So it appears that the noise and movements of the seat is weight-related due to me being much larger than the wife and the average consumer. None of these noises are present in the passenger's seat even with me sitting there.
Any ideas on what may be causing this and how to fix it.
Thank you in advance,
Chris

There's a TSB titled:
FRONT SEAT SQUEAK NOISE NV001-06
Models:
’04 -- ’07 Lexus
Technical Service Bulletin NV001-06
Information Bulletin
May 23, 2006
Some customers may experience a squeak noise due to contact between the seat track
locating pin(s) and the floor pan location hole(s). The procedure describes the
repair method to correct this condition...which essentially involves unbolting the driver's seat and cutting off the locating pin. Unfortunately I don't have the link to the instructions handy but probably could be found through a Google search.
I had the same creaking noise. Similar to your experience, the noise was only present when I drove but not when my wife drove....so I concluded it was the weight difference. The creaking disappeared after I cut the pin off.
