RX330 Ipad Mini sound system coming
Hi everyone, this is my first post! I'm starting my aftermarket sound system install on my 2006 RX330 and wanted to share the process and hear the community's thoughts.
I'm starting with a customized double din kit that will allow me to use my iPad Mini as the head unit. After removing the current double din stereo (I'm leaving the navigation upper part alone, no dvd, pioneer system) the Ipad Mini will slide into the piece and have a Sony App Remote head unit that will complement the iPad Mini sitting behind it. More on this later but here is a sneak peak:
I plan on adding the following:
(Polk Audio) component speakers in the front and regular speakers in the back.
(Pioneer mono, mini Clarion) two amps, one mono for the sub and one mini for the speakers.
(JL Audio) 12inch box in the back.
(Dynamat) For sound proofing.
-Steering wheel controls, Sirius XM, Bluetooth, ODBII Scanner, and all the added functionality via iOS apps.
I will update the thread with the finished product soon!
Please share your thoughts!

I'm taking it on Wednesday to start the install. I have a 12" JL Audio subwoofer box that I had used with my previous install, I bought a new JL Audio 12w0v3-4 to replace the old sub, keeping the same enclosure. However, the installer says he can use the space under the rx330 cargo area (the two compartments) to build me a wooden box for the sub for $300.00. He then says he would cut a hole in the cover and place a grill for the sub to work properly. None of this would be visible since I have the cargo area mat.
I have seen the pics of the other RX330 install where they put two subs in the jack compartment. But I don't think they had to cut a hole in the cover and put a custom cut speaker grille
Should I go for this?
How much better will the subwoofer speaker sound?
Should I just use the original sub box?
I would appreciate some insight, thanks!
EDIT/UPDATE: I decided to just replace the subwoofer speaker in the JL Audio sub box. I didn't want the installer to go hacking around in the large compartment in the back, and I can always unplug the sub and remove it if I need cargo space.

Here it is! I took a quick pic to share right after getting it back from the shop. I'm going to play with the system for a couple of days and post more pics later and also some video demos.

Thanks! I was worried that the custom piece wouldn't clear the bottom part, that I would have to move or give up using the seat warmers, rear wipers, etc. But it fits perfectly! The shift know will not touch the screen when in "Park" but it is close. I rotated the **** to give me a bit more space, but when the gear is in "Drive" it is not in the way at all which is great!
