As stevesxm had pointed out on a previous thread, you can put any size wheel and/or tire on your vehicle you want. There are plenty of calculators out there on the Internet to assist. The bigger question is why??? A 17" wheel is plenty of clearance for chains. Anything else is just silly, IMO.

A tire size around 205/75-16 might work.

of course, you can use 235-65-16 or 235-70-16, just watch your rim offset.

The standard rims on the RX is 17" 6 spoke. Why 16"?

no 16" will not clear the brakes. Minimum is 17".

I've also tried going to 16" for snow tires and the tire shop said 16" would not clear the calipers.

I don't think 16s would clear the front brakes now that I look at the car. I would go with 17s or 18s, depending on what tires you are looking at.

Ok i found a set of wheels rom an acura tl, same bolt pattern, same width, same offset, and everything BUT the bore or hub is 64.1 on the tl wheels, and 60.1 on the rx, i think, will these still be able to work? I know they won't fit if its a smaller bore wheel going onto a bigger hub,ex) lexus wheel on acura, but what about vice versa?

As long the bore is the same size or bigger (which in your case it is), then you should be fine. Would definitely like to see pics if you get them.
