Absolutely! K&N is known to allow more air in, hence it gives you a noticable boost when taking off and not hurting your mpg. I'm speaking from experience because I usually drive fast on the highway ~80mph and improve to 23-24mpg when i used to get 21-22mpg from an OEM filter and lesser quality mobil oil.

I change the filter at 5,000k and then a complete oil change at 10,000k. This is based on my Blackstone test.

UPDATE!! I put in my jug of MB-1 5W30 HM and what a difference! The Valvoline was running very well for me, but this MB-1 HM formula is outstanding! The motor is so quiet now @ an idle I cant even hear it. It used to have a cold motor rap (valve train noise when cold) Totally gone now. I was thinking since this is a more robust oil; 11.7 cst, 3.3 HTHS that it might be a little sluggish. Not at all! runs excellent! I recommend you guy`s give it a try your next oil change (since most of you use Mobil-1 anyway) trust me, you WONT be disappointed!

Makes sense to me, the M1 5W30 HM is a bit closer to a 40 weight (30 weight range is 9.3 - 12.5 cSt) than the Valvoline (assumption here: Valvoline doesn't post their specs, but the Maxlife NextGen was 9.9 cSt, so assuming their NextGen conventional is similar).

Regardless, M1 makes a great motor oil.

Any concern about catalytic converter life due to the fact that M1 5W30 HM is only API SL?

Nope,and Ill tell you why. It was originally spec. for the SL oil. Say`s so right on the oil cap.

170 000 kilometres on my 400h. Toyota 0w20 in winter and extra 5w30 I've been trying to get rid of in the summer (Pennzoil Platinum, Quaker State and Valvoline last three summers). Plan to run the Toy 0w20 all year eventually.

I'll have to give this oil a try then. Hopefully, I get a chance to change it before heading out to Chicago for Thanksgiving. If not, I'll change it immediately after returning.

I've always wanted to try the Mobil 1 5W-30 SUV oil too, so I'll have to decide which one to try. I just went to Walmart last night, and like always went straight to the oil's and noticed that they have jacked up the prices on all oil's.

Unless you are using oil (and not many Lexus/Toyota's do), the fact the ZDDP is 1200ppm in M1 HM is not that much of a concern.

I understand the fact the 2005 model was originally spec'd for API SL. However, the ILSAC decision to lower the ZDDP to 800ppm (due to catalytic converter concerns) didn't take place until early 2005.

Right, but like you mentioned, it doesnt burn oil. Very happy with this oil so far,and I`m glad its a good stout oil because the MZ engine family is not easy on oil.

I am driving 450,000 miles which is the distance to the moon and back. When I getting back to earth I am having a Mobil 1 party. I am at 362,000 miles and my ETA is October 2016.

Currently has 91.5K miles. Have never used Mobil 1 HM before, but consistently been using Mobil 1 5-30w. I used whatever is cheapest (must be synthetic). Bought the Castrol Edge 5-quart jug from Walmart last week for $22+tax and add a couple quarts of cheapo Supertech Synthetic for $4.75. Always change the oil before hitting 6K miles, probably an overkill but cheap insurance.
