2007 RX350 nav update - 5.1 to 10.1
#16
My Wife's 2008 RX350 was a snap to change the DVD as BeeDub described it. The difference is our local Lexus Dealer in NJ wanted $200 to push the damn button. I did it myself and took my wife out to dinner. FWIW the Garmin 1490T in My Avalon is 10x better.

The Lexus NAV is a joke. Why are we required to annually fork over so much $$ for a sub-standard NAV system.

Just bought a 2007 RX400h. My map version is 6.1. Not sure if it's necessary to wait until 11.1 comes out in the fall. If I decide to get the 10.1, where would you recommend getting it? I have never bought anything on eBay and irontoad.com doesn't carry the DVDs. Any suggestions? Dealer said with DVD and install it would be about $400.

If you did not already have a NAV unit, the Garmin would not be a bad way to go. I travel quite a bit, however, it is rare I am actively using my Garmin. I either know where I am going or am happy to just wing it.

it is expensive and i think car companies should work with us the consumer a bit more to make this more affordable and convenient but that would cut into their profit margin so they are not going to do it. In about 3-5 years from now cars will be like smart phones and will have a web nav, and other features the smart phones have now ( its in development
