Default Transfer case and rear differential fill and drain plugs

I'm looking for info on the fill and drain plug part numbers. I'm looking to replace the fluid for the first time since I bought it and when I looked at the plugs they are in pretty bad shape. Also I noticed there aren't any crush washers on there now. I thought they usually get those??? Anyone know what size hex bit they take? I have a 2009 rx350 AWD.

I had an RX330 but I can't see it being much different for the 350.

Mine all had crush washers. Check your local Toyota or Lexus dealer if you are in a pinch.

Front Transfer: 24mm socket and 24mm crow foot socket.

Rear: 10mm hex

Yeah I only have a Toyota dealer local. They have no idea how to find parts and act like its a major inconvenience. I replaced the front/rear and transfer case fluid and all plugs and crush washers on my GX470 and I got the parts from there. I got all part numbers from the GX forum and it still took 45 minutes for the parts dept. at Toyota to order them for me. 😑 Thank you for the info!

What would they do for a Highlander?

They would give a hard time to them as well since they would rather them get the service done there. Most employees at dealers parts departments I've encountered are basically like a cashier. Lol. Not much knowledge. When I asked for the rear differential filler plug the guy pulled up the diagram for the transmission. 🤦‍♂️ Also when I order parts they have never once called to let me know when they arrive.

This is what I came up with:

12157-10010 Washer, Rear Diff Fill

12157-10010 Washer, Rear Diff Drain
90430-18008 or 90430-A0003 Washer, Xfer Case Fill
90430-18008 or 90430-A0003 Washer Xfer Case Drain
90341-18006 Plug, Rear Diff Fill (29 ft/lbs)
90341-18006 Plug, Xfer Case Fill (36 ft/lbs)
90341-18006 Plug, Xfer Case Drain (36 ft/lbs)
90341-18057 Plug, Rear Diff Drain (29 ft/lbs)

Make sure you have a thin-walled 15/16" (or 24mm) shallow socket because a thick socket won't fit.

I don't like the Toyota plugs anyway, they seize up here in Canada and the metal is weak. OEM sizes for the differential and T-case plug are M18 x 1.5" for the threads. T-case plug has a 24mm head and the diff has a 10mm socket. I just replaced both with magnetic stainless plugs with bolt heads. This is on my 2002 Highlander but the plugs are the same.

Since my diff plugs are seized and need to be chiseled out, I bought the cheapest Chinese 18 x 1.5 plugs I could find on eBay. Included is a brass crush washer and they're magnetic like OEM. They look to be of decent quality, I'm sure they won't have a problem holding up. I figure this is the last time I'm going to be changing my diff oil so I don't need state of the art made in USA plugs on here. I also bought a magnetic stainless oil drain plug made in the USA by Votex and the size for that is M12 x 1.25.

So I did the drain and fill today. I also replaced the fill plugs, drain plugs and crush washers. Last week I jacked up all 4 corners evenly and went under and just made sure I could get to everything and loosen all the plugs. I checked the level and condition of the fluid too. After taking everyone's knowledge on the parts I figured out what I needed. Someone suggested lexuspartsnow.com to get the part numbers. I ended up getting the plugs at the Toyota dealer since there's no shipping charge and I can pick ordered parts up the next day. They have my VIN on file so I just got them to enter each number and if it goes to my Lexus the part pops up. Some of the part numbers updated to new part numbers in their system. Here's what I found for mine. Mine was made in NA/Canada by the way.

90341-18035 rear differential drain plug
90341-18032 rear differential filler plug
90341-A0002 x2 transfer case plugs
I paid $39.12 for the parts.

12157-10010 crush washers.
I bought a 10 pack on Amazon for $9.41

Valvoline full synthetic 75w-90 gear oil
I had some left over from when I replaced the oil in one of my GX470's. I think I paid $50 for a gallon. This weight gear oil is what the Toyota dealer said they are using.

The oil in the front was really dark and thick when it came out. The rear was not nearly as dark and thinner. I put back in 27 ounces in the front and the rear took 1 quart 4 ounces. The rear was pretty easy. On the fill plug I used a 3/8 breaker bar with a wobble socket extension and 10mm hex bit socketThe drain plug I used a 1/2 breaker bar with a reducer and the 10mm hex bit socket. On the front filler plug I used a 15/16 socket, a reducer from 1/2 to 3/8 and a wobble socket extension connected to a 3/8 breaker bar. It was really tight but it worked just fine. I found the 15/16 socket had a nice tight fit versus what is normally used which is 24mm. The drain plug worked best with a 15/16 wrench.
the cover under the transfer case uses a 10mm socket and I used an extension to turn it faster. While I had it up I went ahead and rotated the tires. I went with the rearward cross pattern. The way the manual says makes no sense. I would never utilize the spare in rotation, especially not the only utilizing it on the right side everytime. Then I drove it for 20 minutes or so and jacked it back up and double checked the level. I did not need to add any. Next time I will just fill it and let it ride. I'm not going to say how long everything took...I have 4 girls 7 and under, 2 of which are 1 year old twins so when I get out in the garage I like to stay out there as long as the wife will allow to get a break from the craziness. 🤯🤣
