Default Another 05 RX radiator failure !

Well guy`s,the other morning I popped the hood (just to take a look ) make sure the motor is still their etc. Any way,I was walking back from my tool chest, and I noticed this bright red flower Blossem looking thing!! I knew right away their was a coolant leak. For some reason the Toyota coolant chrystalises when it come`s in contact with the outside air. (really strange stuff, but a very good coolant)

So I prepare myself for the phone call to my dealer,I must say I`m impressed! I told the service writer that the radiator is weeping coolant, and that I`m a member of CL and we understand their to be a problem with 04-05 radiators. He asked me to wait while he checked it out with the warranty person. Came back to the phone, and said I`m covered !! . They extended the radiator coverage to 7 year`s or 90,000 miles, in my head I was like YES !! thank GOD for this. So while its down their,I asked them to adjust my low beam headlamps.

Any of you guy`s that own an 04-05 may want to check under the hood real soon. I`m sure glad I did.

I'm glad to hear the radiator is covered but sorry it happened to you. Geez, you haven't had the car that long. Maybe you want to jump to 3rd gen

I really cant complain, So far it`s been very reliable (knock on wood) and I am Sooooo glad this is covered. Although I know as soon as i get it back, one of the air/fuel ratio sensor`s will probably go bad. It`s right at the millage...71,520

Happy to hear everything's been going well with your RX (knock on wood). Let's hope the sensors aren't next.

On the bright side, there's nothing better than seeing no charge on the bottom of a repair bill. Yeah Lexus!

Props to Toyota for covering this even though they really didn't need to.

Yesterday, brought the car into a Toyota dealership to do a transmission flush along with transfer case and rear diff and was notified that I had a coolant leak. Do a quick search here and came up with this thread. Now I remember a while back Lexus did send out a letter that extend the radiator warranty - lost the letter as usual. I'll be calling in to see if mine is covered. The 04 and 05 folks should really take a look at this issue.

I think it has to be leaking in order to be covered.

Not all radiator or radiator cap issues are covered. Believe the letter dealt with a leak caused by a crack in the lower part of the radiator assembly. Dealer will have all the details if you cannot find the letter they sent to all owners or if you did not buy new.

Brought it in over the weekend for the dealer to change it out. Had to really convinced the SA about the extended warranty (Lost my letter). He never heard of it and when search on the internet, he was convinced that it was only the ones assemble in Canada (mine in Japan). Had to force him to look around and he finally found it after a long while. If any member binging theirs in for warranty work, I think it's best to also print out the TSIB. I remember seeing someone posting it but can't seem to find it now.
