Relay clicking under drivers dash?
Hi -
My RX has developed a strange clicking noise under the drivers dash that sounds very much like a relay clicking. It goes on for several minutes after cranking the car, but I don't notice any electrical oddities that would be associated with a cycling relay.
Is this an issue that RX owners have dealt with before?
Thanks,
Chip
EDIT: It appears to be coming from a small black motor above and right of the gas pedal with the number "06700-8802" stamped on it.

I'm going to drag this one out from long ago. I have also started to experience this random clicking under what "appears" to be the driver's dash. It sounds much like a relay clicking away and eventually will stop when it wants to. I don't have any issues with any of the electrics and various auto-functions, so have no idea why it would be doing it. It also happens randomly. It happened yesterday on the way to pick up the wife. It didn't start at home, and I drove to 2 places on the way to the wife's work. Got there, had the car on accessories for radio and then turned on and noise started. Lasted for about 30-40 minutes (as we had started a 400km journey to visit her parents) and eventually it just stopped. Part way through the journey (about 200km) and had turned the car off/on and nothing. Got to our destination and left car for a few hours, turned off and back on, nothing. Left overnight, started today and nothing. Went out, nothing. It is purely random as to when it will start again. Some times it will happen day after day, and sometimes I won't hear from it again for weeks. There is nothing in the way that when the car is turned on to cause any unknown issues.
Things I have just turned off / tried to eliminate where the issue may be
* Turned off the automatic rain-sensor for the wipers
* Turned off and turned on the car
* Turned off the wing mirror adjustment (for dipping mirrors)
* Locked, unlocked the car
* Pressed the Driver's memory setting buttons
* Adjusted the steering column up/down/in/out
* Dash lights adjusment dim/bright
* Turn on/off cruise control
* Turned stere off, loaded CD
* Turned aftermarket bluetooth phone system off and on
* Pressed/depressed foot brake
* Fold mirrors in/out
* Turned ac on/off
Pretty much all of it that I can think off and the relay sound will keep going. Eventually it will just stop. Does anyone knw what th small black motor is, and it's function? I haven't held my ear up to the dash to figure it out.
Has anyone besides ChipM, shikbas (https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-...ash-click.html) and I had this issue?

This clicking is becoming a wide spread issue. I have it too. For some it was the AC directional damper motor. But the clicking was going on even when you just put the car on ignition (not cranked up) in my case.

I have heard the gurgling before but it's been a while since I've heard it. The ticking noise is apparent though. On the way home, caught the train to the train station and then got to the car, started it, drove for a few minutes and then the ticking noise was there but it wasn't particularly loud (as on other occasions) and just in the back ground.

I knew it it was not just me...this sound is bothering me now. The key is to make sure it exists when I take it in for service.

add me into the list.....
04 rx330 with 120,000 km
I'm having the same sounds and problems also. I read on this forum that is might be a cervo motor in the dual climate control. try turning on the dual climite control of the passenger side to higher then 26c and that stopped the sound for me.

I have noticed that the noise has been less frequent. I hate that, I want to get this repaired when I take it in.

Well it happened again today, and this time I tried the air-con adjustment as indicated with no luck. Turned dual zone up to 26 degrees (celsius) and tried turning dual on and off but still happening. I then turned both sides of the air-con down to MAX COLD (while set up as dual) and back to previous temperature setting. Nothing. Of course then after about 1-2 minutes it just stopped again. Grrrrrrrrrr

That's like me! It used to be soon after I crank teh RX, the gurgling, ticking noise would be so loud. Now it is hit or miss.

Any further notes / thoughts about this?
Apparently the Lexus dealership reckon that this is the AC servo motors making the noise (which I for one don't think it is).
