How often to rotate & balance tires?
#2
only need to balance when you put tires on rims or there is a vibration issue at highway speeds.
i know it may be a little much, but you cant rotate tires too often, i do mine every oil change (works out to every 3-4 months)

No, I don't play soccer!
I did tire rotation with every oil change, about every 3-4K. 5K is standard. Tires were balanced only when I put on new tires. And alignment every 15K. At least by me, the roads are bad enough to warrant it.

It is a good thing to rotate tires and more so if you have uneven wear. My tires wear evenly from one edge to the middle and to the other edge so I do not rotate tires. The fronts for me do wear out quicker, so I move the front to the back and install new in the front. [I am old fashioned here. Every time I ask for new tires in the front the tire shop reminds me of the study done by a tire manufacturer with the result that the better tires should go in the back]

5K is the recommended interval - Are the second generation getting the synthetic oil that only needs 10K replacement? Otherwise a good alternative is as kitlz suggests, rotation with oil change to keep the number of trips for upkeep to a minimum.
