Newbie to Lexus
In November I purchased a 2005, RX 330 with only 32,000 miles. The dealer did an excellent job in preparing the car to include all fluids changed, new rotors and brakes, new tires windshield wipers and of course the car looked brand new inside. The car runs well and I have been very happy. I have established a relationship with a local lexus dealership and they even replaced a headlight that had condensation at no charge. I noticed after picking the car up after the headlight relplacement that the AFS light started blinking. At first if I shut the car and restarted it, the AFS light would reset but now it is blinking continuously. I am bringibg the car to the dealer to have it checked.....any ideas as to what the problem might be and what the cost to repair might be. I am hoping that my extended warranty (not from lexus) will cover the cost. Also someone in the forum indicated that they had a great site to get info for a DYS on headlight replacement and ballast sensors. Please share this information.

It sounds like you have a ballast that is not firing up properly. If you are handy you can swap the other ballast to confirm if this is a ballast issue or maybe other things (bulb, wiring, voltage).
If you need a replacement ballast the best deal is to buy a Xenon headlight kit on Ebay. For a good quality setup with with the newer slim ballast it shouldn't cost you more then $140. This way you also have a new set of bulbs.
They are every easy to install. There are lots of videos on youtube.
Cheers

Lexus update
Took it to the Lexus dealer and they diagnosed the problem as a rear sensor as stated with other Lexus owners. They also found that my brake light sensor was in need of replacement. The best news was that my extended warranty took care of everything. Also the Lexus dealer provided me with a 2010 lexus so coool.

I;m glad to hear Lexus took care of your RX. It sounds like you have a nice RX and a really nice dealership to deal with. Welcome to CL. And should you have trouble with a ballast or HID in the future, I do not neccessarily agree with replacing with a complete aftermarket kit. I think it can be solved with oem parts for a great price after searching these forums. Take care and welcome.
