cleaning transmission screen/filter
Lots of references in posts to "cleaning" the transmission screen/filter, but saw nothing about how to do the cleaning. Soak in a certain solvent or...?

Shops have a tub with 'part cleaner' solvent. I have used kerosine in the past for cleaning metal parts and lately gasoline (just because it is handy ... gas mower supply at home). Other product is brake cleaner. It usually comes down to what is handy ... one should consider the cost of replacement too. Few rules apply too ,,, do not clean gaskets and Orings (replace them).
The other item you need is a soft brush .. that does not dissolve with the cleaner.
Remember to thoroughly dry. I dry the brush as well and before the instal, I gently apply the fresh fluid with the brush .... sort of light rinse and attach when it is still damp.
My screen was clean and no amount of cleaning would have made it any better.
