Default Crazy Steering wheel shake

Got a 99 rx awd that when I go over 60mph the wheel shakes like crazy. Tires are new balanced and aligned. I'm guessing the steering bushings are shot. any ideas?

Welcome.

tie rod ends might be worn out and possibly front hub bearings. A good alignment tech would have pulled on the rod ends to check for excessive play. Some unfortunately do not, and want you to come back and pay again for correction.

If the front hub bearings, you will eventually have exceeded max run out on one or both of your front rotors and cause shuddering while braking as well.

Did this start just after the tyre balance and alignment job? Can be the guy who forgot to tighten something - you don't mention what mileage you have there, but Toyota/Lexus do an extremely high mileage on bushes and bearings.

Check your lower control arm bushings. Mine were all dry rotted and basically shot. I replaced the whole arm because the bushings aren't replaceable.

After I replace mine, the steering wheel was solid at highway speed where before it would shake an inch and a half each way.

I paid less than $50 for each one. I used MOOG arms.

Install took maybe half hour each side.

I have a DIY in the stickies section.

Thank you everyone for your replies and I appoligze for my delay getting back on here. Im going to be getting under the baby mobile today and pulling crap off to get some inspections done and measurements made. @fastnoypi i didn't even think to check the tie rods. I've had hub bearings go before in another car and i don't think these are bad. @nipponbird, The wheels and and alignment i get done every 3k regardless (Nor Cal roads suck) Tires got about 5-10k on them since new. Mileage is 228k and climbing daily, shes the baby mobile. Still runs like a champ other than this. @ Erics99RX Good to know. That will probably be getting replaced then. Once again thank you all for your input.
