Timing Belt Kit questions
I'm trying to replace a timing belt as cheaply as I can for my '99 RX that will have 240k miles next month. I have an indy who did the last one for $300 labor and it's been fine. I just can't remember what or where I bought the belt/kit. He also replaced the water pump last time and I'm replacing the belt at 76k instead of 90k (my last change was due to a broken timing belt at 78k with speculation the dealer may not have replaced the belt as claimed with an engine replacement under extended warranty at 86k and the belt really had 164k on it) so I'm going to skip the pump as the longest I will drive it is to 300k - so I'm gambling the pump will go 136k but I've decided not to risk it on the belt after seriously thinking of doing just that. I also changed the drive belts at 200k and will gamble on 100k for them. I have no idea about when or if seals were changed but I have no leaks.
Question - can anyone recommend a good basic timing belt kit? I found this one which says it has a Dayco timing belt without seals, Camshaft belt tensioner, Camshaft belt idler (Hydraulic Actuator not included) for $96 less 15%. Is that sufficient? Do I need the hydraulic actuator? The second link appears to be for that item. I would ask my mechanic but I don't speak Russian and communication is difficult - the work always seems good and cheap though. Thanks for any recommendations or advice.
