Salim or Lexmex,
Will there be any issue if I switch my U140F tranny valve body with a U140E valve body?
your thoughts.
thanks.

The only thing I noticed was a small lube hole on the AWD U140F,

Thank you, seems that the only way to test to hook this up and see what it does.
lexus114,
I have a code of P0770 (x4); I removed the DSL solenoid and tested it, its not working. I drove the car for about 25 miles since the light came on, and shifting progressively got worse. I'm thinking its more than the solenoid that's bad.
Today I got a used DSL solenoid( Fleebay); it was bad too, the resistance is ok...but upon testing it acts that same like my solenoid ( this is how I tested ---Connected battery voltage to solenoid and applied 71 psi of compressed air - "air should not pass" and with voltage disconnected air has to pass through the solenoid- 2000 RX service manual) when I tested air passes with battery power to solenoid and air does not pass with no voltage, resistance is at 12.5 ohms and this is within specs.
I will be getting a used U140E valve body this week. I plan to test the DSL solenoid, if its good I will test it on the car, if it's a no go, then I'm planning to put in the U140E valve body, to rule out valve body issue.
Here is some thing interesting and stupid that I did.....with each oil changed I just drained the tranny and filled it, never bothered to drop the pan. Seems that I'm paying for that now.
I dropped the pan for the first time (104,000 miles), boy it was bad, the strainer appears to be clogged( very dark), and the three magnets was completely covered with metal filings almost shaped like a water fountain.
Today I dropped the tranny pan of my 2006 Sienna (127,000); the strainer was clean, magnet had negligible metal filings, and the fluid was clean/pink.
Comparing the two above.....the Lexus tranny indicates trouble.
Take a look at the pictures. The first three pictures is of the 2000 Lexus and the last picture is of the 2006 Sienna.

The Rx always got a tranny drain& fill each time with oil change.
For the sienna, just oil change at 5K with no tranny drain & fill.

Is that since new? If so, then I'd be really curious to know how the car was used, i.e., towing, etc. I just find it hard to imagine how could the transmission have such a severe metal erosion with proper maintenance after 104K miles.

107,440 miles tranny down again
I had tranny issues at 104,000 miles, see pics above, after replacing the tranny oil strainer and fluid it ran perfectly for about 2K, then it started having same issue, it won't move forward or reverse. Changed the tranny oil strainer and fluid, it become ok again.
At 107, 440 miles, I was driving and heard some thud thud noise from tranny, started to hesitate to move and then it came to thumping stop. After this this it won't move forward or back.
Had it towed, on dollies since even wheel was locked. I'm changing the tranny filter/ strainer once more and taking this to a nearby Toyota dealer.
Why is this happening?

Plano Lexus in TX has the tranny for about 3.2K, core is additional 1K, cheapest I could find, th ekiller is having the core shipped back to them.
I'm looking at $5K + shipping core back to TX.
What do you think?

I felt bad cause I have had transmission issues with other vehicles I have owned...and it's not fun, sorry to hear your having a lot of trouble. I did about 3 hours of searching for this transmission 😩 lol I think this is a great deal. Personally I would jump on this as soon as possible 😛 but have a look it's tons cheaper as well 😆 good luck 👍👍

I don't think you can use the 5 speed. The ECM does not have the programming for the newer 5 speed.
The U140 transmission was the base transmission in the RAV4 until 2010. thats gonna be a clean swap. 1 to 1
Knowing Toyota, it's probably fully updated with all previous problems fixed. I'd get the lowest miles I can find. Change the fluid, filter, transmission to front differential seal, transmission mount, and any rotted lines.
