Default Seat cover replacement

I just bought a Rx 300 and need to replace the leather seat covering. The center part is worn and starting to split. What is the real cost to a dealer for that bottom seat covering, and can I just replace the center part at a shop. Thanks for your help

I have seen ads on this forum for leatherseats.com and advleather.com -- WAY cheaper than retail, of course, and probably a lot cheaper than dealer cost. I will face this myself sometime and I think this is the way I'll go, installing them myself. I've had front seat upholstery off before replacing seat heaters, so I know it's not too bad a job.

I would suggest investigating professional leather repair companies. You would be amazed what they can repair. I had some repairs done to my front drivers seat leather 1 1/2 years ago, and it is still holding up fine.

It is very much an art though. I don't know how hard it is to find somebody good in your area. I was lucky.

You can also just go to a local junk yard and buy replacement seats, this is probably the cheapest option if you can find them at a place where you pull your own parts.

I had custom seat covers similar to the ones in this video installed in my 2000 RX300 they look almost stock and only the trained eye looking really hard would know they weren't. I had mine made at the local swap meet here in Las Vegas. they really do look very good!
