small metal shaving in my transmission fluid
Hi all, my rx 300 is 127000 mile now
The first i am notice is my car was sleep for the reverse n jack when put the d for drive.
I Go to the garage n dearler let me to drain the fluid and refill with the new d 4 fluid include new filter.until now my car just fine and shift mormally and Drive like a charm But something i notic that there something in the fluid like the metal shaving? It will i go to repare or change it before it fail or it is normal. Stay say now my car run fine. Please give me an advice or explaind me. Thanks

A bit difficult to understand your post, but from what I understand you found metal shavings in the oil.
This is normal, you will find small minute shavings. As long as you don't find any chunks of metal, you should be fine.
How frequently do you change the ATF?

uH.....metal shavings or silt? Silt is quite normal. That`s mostly clutch material, and is normal. However, metal shavings or aluminum shavings may indicate your planetary gear housing is on it`s way out.

Thank for your prompt reply.as remebered on the mile 118000, i also have the picture but i do not know how to uploard it to the post.
It is not chunk or big metal, but it is really loke like small silver metal shaving due the time that the fluid was drain by check it on the bottom. One more thing when i check the new fluid that just renew on the dipstick it look like black shaving on it.but as i mention my car run fine.

Please use the spell checker as you type. You should consider multiple drain and fills until the fluid is clean/red. It is also a very good idea to drop the pan and check the magnets. Anything other than a small amount of super fine black powder-like material on or around the magnets - can barely feel any abrasiveness if you rub it between your fingers, is sign of excessive component wear.

I bought some extra strong magnets for my sump last time i serviced it and am certainly better off for it.
It is like gold as it is about how much it costs to get a recon box fitted if it was.
