Default new owner of 2001 RX300

Hey all-

Just picked up this 01' rx300. Never owned a lexus before. There are a few things that i would like to know. I can't seem to find where to insert a cd. Is cd optional for this year & model. It shows cd buttons on console. Thinking of replacing with a another deck with aux and Bluetooth capabilities along with cd player. Also i would like to install HIDs. High and low beam & fog lights. How would it work for the running lights? Or can i turn off the running lights. No manual?? Any suggestions???

The CD-changer should be in the glove-box compartment. It uses CD-magazines. I don't recall it being an option, but a previous owner could have removed it. While you are in the glove box area, you should check out the cabin air filter. Search on how to check it out.

I think there is a DRL-off function on the light stalk. It was put there so you could run the engine at drive-in theaters, for heat.

If you do a search, you will find one or more companies selling an adapter to add aux-in and maybe bluetooth capabilities to the stereo.

None of the radios of that generation RX had single-disk CD players; only 6-disk magazine changers located in the glove box.

Unfortunately, there is not a DRL-off function on the light stalk like in my ES.

You have to disable the DRL's by pulling the plug for them. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-...ng-lights.html

You will love the Rx! I have owned a 2001 rx300 since new and it has been trouble free since day 1. All I've had to do was replace wear and tear items. Nothing major. The CDs can be inserted from the glove box. It's on the top left corner and it takes 6 CDs. If you ever have any questions about the Rx let me know.

Ummm me think the drl shut off when you apply parking brake. Usually people who want the DRL off are trying to turn them off while 'driving', so the parking brake is not an option for them.
