Yup. They add much more light at night.

No. Fog lights are for fog. They don't add much usable illumination under normal circumstances.

You can always tell when people use their fog lights all the time.....One is always burned out!

Yes, I use them whenever the headlights are on. I still don't consider them to really be fog lights. They illuminate the near-field, so you can see close-in objects at night.

Yes, the fog lights add a wider field of view with low beams and help fill in shadows, adding an extra margin of safety, which is more important to me than the miniscule added alternator drag.

I've been using my RX's fogs with the headlights for over 13 years since I bought the car new, and have not had one burn out yet (so their goes that theory, at least in my non-scientific experience). If one burns out, it's worth replacing - no big deal there. It's still worth the extra safety edge.

Some (dumb) oncoming drivers flash high beams, not because they are blinded by fog lights (their focused height does not exceed that of low beams, and their aim is correct) but seemingly just because they see four beams. Curiously, I've noticed usually these blink-happy dummies have fogs on, too - indicating they probably aren't aware. This happens no more often in the RX than my other vehicles. Other than the occasional idiot blink, I don't see a downside.

i used fogs at night when i had my RX. i noticed a difference with them on. i had 5300k hids on both my lows and fogs, so i kinda felt i was being inconsiderate by blinding other drivers.

I put them on all the time. They are pretty worthless though, fogs should be yellow.

I have the fogs on all the time as well, I'm thinking of getting HID's for the low beams now as they don't seem so expensive now a days.

A number of car makers have discontinued front fog lights as headlights have improved. Here's a link to a 2017 NY Times article about the trend although I don't know if you can view it if you don't have a subscription like we do: https://www.nytimes.com/2017/06/29/a...disappear.html
