Acceleration Lag
I have a 2002 RX and I'm experiencing a lag in acceleration when I floor it. It's like a 5 second delay before it kicks in. Is this normal?

Not on my 2002 RX...I stomp it, it goes.
5 seconds? That's a long time. I'm sitting here looking at my watch and counting.
Definitely not normal. The only lag I've experienced is stomping it at a 40 mph drift where the engine had to downshift. That lag was 1 second or less. Every car I've had did something like this, though.
Call your dealer.

actually, what you'd described is more accurate. It ususally happens when I'm driving on the freeway when I noticed the split-second lag during acceleration. Guess I'm so used to my stick-shift Integra's performance and that every second counts when you're trying to make it to the finish line.

I understand they removed the ETC Power/Snow Mode button from the newer RX300's... That's a bummer because I drive in ETC Power mode all the time... no lag for me!
I wonder why they removed it?

Welcome to the 4-speed RX 300 Automatic tranx. I find it
to be one of the best automatics I've owned. Very smooth.
The accel/downshift seems longer than it is if you're used
to a manual...I guess it seems like 5 seconds, eh?
Hando, I've got a ECT/Snow mode button in my '02.

Lexus stop putting the POWER mode on the ECT button for 2001+. You simply push the button for "snow mode." For '99-'00 you can choose between POWER or SNOW. POWER raises the shift points for slightly quicker acceleration.
You will experience a bit of a lag when trying to push the gas pedal through the firewall The tranny is programmed to make the shifts, up or down, as smooth as possible. Give it time and it'll give you a smooth shift.
Yay! Finally have my digicam back from repair, so I'll take a gratuitous pic...can't help myself.

hey, i remember someone saying the power button for the 2001+ is automatic. The ecu turns it on when you are driving hard adn turns it off when you are not... If this is true, is it possible to somehow have it on all the time? thats what i would like.
and ECT snow starts shifting in 2nd gear instead of first... think
