HELP! 99 RX300 Nakamichi amp
Hello, I replaced my Nakamichi amplifier with an aftermarket because it was fried but the ***** on my head unit won’t work now (Volume & Sound option) Is it something that has to do with the amp or have to replace the head unit?

I went to a car stereo installation. It’s a Cerwin Vega Mobile amplifier, it was a headache put in. Should I look for an original Nakamichi amp or just buy a used OEM unit?

Before you do that you need to really research your options. As I recall the Nakamichi is a completely unique system - head unit, amp, and speakers - and does not take kindly to piece-meal substitution of parts.

I’ve been researching for hours haha the head unit works with the new amp (radio, cassette player, cd changer not really but I don’t really use that) front & rear speakers, tweeter works perfectly. I didn’t install the OEM sub. It’s just the volume and push sound **** won’t adjust

The audio system works with a serial control interface and then the audio level [analog] are dual differential l/r (+/-).
One can potentially live with signal and "-" as chassis ground but then the signal level is halved and noise can creep-in.
I have not encountered any way to work around the serial communication link which selects the source.

For what it's worth, I have two 99's, one with the Nakamichi system and one without. Out of curiosity, I temporarily swapped the head/dashboard units between the two since they looked identical. Each unit works with the other system. Apparently, they are the same and the difference is in the amplifiers; possibly the speakers, too. I had bought a radio/screen/trim portion online because of a scuff in the one on one of my vehicles. The radio portion worked fine, and it's available.

fyi....update, those infinity 6032 are no longer available. Crutchfield says polk audio 652db are replacements. Also do i have to replace all four? 2ways? Wont that be overkill on the high end?
