Maximum RX 300 AWd speed without the speed limter?
SO i love my RX 300 AWD
I hate the fact its limited to a 112 MPH cut off,
If Im escaping someone trying to kill me or need to get to the hopsital or wanna race my car on the track
thats my choice.
What Im asking is..
if the speed limiter was removed..on a stock 2000 rx 300 awd..
what could I max out at top speed wise?
It pisses me off my Chrysler town and country van can max out at 117 and that's mechanically, its a piece of junk
while my 1996 Volvo 850 can do 143 on the track
also unreliable
so What can my RX 300 do on the track STOCK without a speed limiter?
Im one of those people who just likes to know limits..makes me happy
thanks,
Pat

The answer is not much more than what your tires are rated for.
I've taken it up to the limiter level (it's actually not 112, you can get it a bit more if you go in a downhill run), but I could smell my tires.

So if i get tires rated for up to say 150..then what can the engine do?..i know its a bit undersized for the sheer weight of the vehicle
but assuming what i understand and thats not much at all..
my friends 2001 camry with the same V6 3.0L can do 124, his tires are rated to go faster if i recall, i know there are letter ratings for tires.. but i think he redlined at 124

Pat no dis-respect here, but dude why in the world would you even want to go faster than that in a family truckster!! I recommend you look for a 2005 Pontiac GTO.I worked for a Pontiac dealer for a couple of years, and those babies are AWSOME!! Personally I get scared going past 85 in my RX simply because its just not built with speed in mind.(and you can tell) I have owned/driven some runners in the past i.e 67 Chrysler New Yorker 440 Magnum,Chrysler Laser XE Turbo,3 Mustang GT`s.these kind of cars are at home with higher speeds like your talking about.Remember if you slap 5.0 emblems on a 4 cylinder Mustang GL,its still a 4 cylinder Mustang GL. Got me?

I know its silly to ask I just HAD to know if it was a reason that the engine simply wasn't powerful enough to hit 140 or what the deal was, I have so many questions about allot im just starting to understand
Thanks for the help!!
Its a Great car and here in ohio our highways are limited to 60 MPH no joke..
So Ill stick with my wonderful RX stock everything cept audio
112K miles and no trans issues or sludge
hoping to keep it for my kids to learn on

Lexus has done the research for you on top speeds.
Most, if not all, Lexus models are available in the Middle East,
such as the Emirates.
Lexus vehicles delivered there usually have no speed limiters,
or limiters much faster than the US. They come with tires
appropriate to the speed, usually V or Z rated.
The rest of the car (suspension, brakes, cooling, etc) is either Euro spec
with stiffer springs and shocks, or was OK to begin with.
Go to the Middle East dealership pages for Lexus, and the top speed will be listed for each model, along with engine specs, etc.
Quite often top speeds are much higher than in the US,
presumably due to the excessively litiginous climate here.
Just do the metric to english conversion to get mph.
Cheers
