Whining/Purring/Whistling heard btw 60-80KMH (40-50MPH)
Hey guys, so a few months ago I started noticing that my 99 RX300 starts to make a whine/purr sound when I accelerate between 60-80 KM/H (40-50 MPH) and then the sound disappears. It is only present during that interval.
Hmm, to better get a description of the sound I would compare it to a continuous whistle or like a flute player holding a note for a long time. Here we go: it's the same sound as those Television channels that go "off air" at late hours during the night (multicoloured bar screen and annoying single long tone). LOL
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance,
Y.H.

See if you figure out if it is a wind/air noise or mechanical vibration noise.
You have to really go back in history and dig out noise due to wind-deflector and the slats of the roof carrier (and also the tie-down holes alignment). Rear view mirrors also cause wind noise. Some times it is the noise infiltration through the rubber seals of the hatch/doors [the noise source can not be fixed beyond a point and then you prevent it from infiltrating].
Also examine if any of the underbody shields is hanging loose etc.
