Driver Door Won't Lock or Unlock using key transmitter???????
My 2000 RX300 all of a sudden is having a little bit of lock/unlock trouble. When we use the tranmitter on the key to lock or unlock the car, the driver door is the only one that doesn't respond. All of the other doors lock and unlock fine. The driver door can still be locked and unlocked with the key with no problems
Has this happened to anyone else or does any one know how to fix this? I am thinking there may have been a fuse blown somewhere. Any input would help.
Thanks!
Chris

Search on "door lock actuator" and you will find plenty of information. It seems like a common old age ailment.
If you are not an avid DIY and mechanically inclined, there are aftermarket solutions. A safer bet would be OEM replacement.

The replacement lock motor assembly will cost about $270 plus labor. However if you want to learn what the mechanically inclined do read this:

Salimshah, I'm having the same problem with the actuator as afcab and I read the instructions given by Indy. Unfortunately, I'm not mechanically inclined. I'm in the Austin area and if you've replaced these, I would appreciate it if you could teach me or I would be willing to pay you to replace these. Thanks!

Mine had similar issue a few monthes ago. But not every time. I assumed water causing the issue since that happened after several really heavy rainy days. I speaded some silicon based lub into the hole on the side of the door and a few days later it fixed itself.

My wife's 2000 RX300 began having this problem about 3 years ago. The Lexus dealer wants about $550.00 to replace the driver door latch/actuator. So far she says " I don't think so "! Today it's costing her about $900.00 to have the ECU [ computer ] replaced because the current one doesn't recognize the master key. That's about half of the $1600.00 they say that it usually costs. I guess they're in the " Holiday Spirit "! What a " screw-job"! I can get a new PCM [ computer ] for my Silverado for less than $300.00!

in the process of fixing the door
I just received my door actuator in the mail from allelectronics.com. It only cost 5.50, so hopefully I can make it work. I will be doing the project soon so I can post pictures of the process. The actuator that isn't working is the drivers side door so hopefully the work can translate to the most part to other doors if people are having issues with them. Thanks to all for the initial responses and direction. I probably would have just let the problem go because there is no way I would pay over 500 dollars to avoid using my key to get into the car or flipping the switch to lock it on the way out. I guess it really doesn't bother me that much. Anyway I'll keep you all posted once I get around to the door.
Thanks!
Thanks!

My wife's car now has this problem on both the driver and rear passenger doors. I am incline to replace the actuator myself. If anyone know where and what part number actuator I need to purchase please PM me. She has a 2003 Rx300. Thanks in advance.

I will gladly call you over to see, when and if I replace the actuator on my RX,
Exchange of money for service, adds the obligation on the provider to do a competent job and cover the risk of damage. That is why dealers charge lot extra for the work. They eat the cost of damage which may happen and it does.
My, advice .. live with it and save every month to get it fixed.
