Default How to upgrade the built-in info screen monitor / system ??

Hello all,

I am new to this club since I have just sold my Camry in Canada (I am a member from toyota nation) and bought a 1999 Toyota Harrier (Lexus RX300) in Hong Kong. My 1999 Harrier is equipped with the standard "blue background / white text" info screen in the center console. I am wondering if I can upgrade this system to the Lexus color screen ??

If so, what do I need ? Many thanks.

There are no easy solutions for this because rather than being a video display, your screen is actually a series of readouts incorporated in a single panel. In some lights with the screen off, you can see this.

If you want to upgrade to a full nav system that includes a video display, it can be done, but it probably cost you 30%-50% of the value of your car. As we have said many times on this forum, this is an EXTREMELY complex conversion, requiring just about everything in the center stack to be changed, a GPS antenna to be installed, other sensors and a computer wired in. At that point, it is cheaper to trade cars.

Learn to love blue, or consider replacing the head unit with an aftermarket system that includes DVD and GPS functions. This isn't exactly cheap either, but it CAN be done.

Good Luck!
