Hey guys, A quick question.... I am going to buy snow tires for my RX and was wondering if anyone has info which ones are the best and what size I should get?? Thanks....

Sorry, I don't have any info for ya...I don't really need any snow tires in Georgia - it is barely getting below freezing so far this month - just didn't want to leave you hanging all by yourself on this thread

Snow Tires in the snow....

Out today in the 4 inch deep stuff, at Minus 20 Celcius, and seemed to have no problems with my Michelin Cross Trainers.
Since I don't have have an extra set of wheels for some sumer season tires, this seems to be a realistic compromise.
Went with the same replacement size when I replaced the Bridgestones.
I will try to avoid the realy deep stuff as these trucks are really only a "Mall-Wheel-Drive" vehicle anyway.
If you are venturing out in the cold, be sure to leave your outer AC vents open and aimed at the side glass as the "vents" in the doors don't cut the mustard....(frost)
Hope this gives you a little info anyway...

So far my Michelin Cross Terrains are keeping me going here in Salt Lake City. We've had about 4' here at my house since Thanksgiving. Probably driven in 4"-6" with no probs and in "snow mode" (second gear start) and OD off for better control. I went w/one size larger tire (235/70x16) for looks and traction...and they just fit w/o spacers. For snow only, the Michelin Arctic Alpin is probably one of your better choices.

With my two previous jeeps I always went with the quietest tires I could buy and then travelled with 4 tire chains during the winter months. Used all four chains more than once from 87 to 1999, when I bought my first RX300 AWD.
Before this winter set in I went out and bought 2 sets for the 2001 RX300 AWD. THEN I read the owner's manual. Lexus says to install chains ONLY on the front as there is not enough clearance in the rear, the coil suspension interferes.
When I pointed out that tire chains only on the front can be VERY HAZARDOUS, just as they imply in the manual regarding snow tires ONLY on the front, they suggested it would be best to avoid the use of chains altogether.
Anybody want to buy 2 useless sets of chains?
