Door panel removal DIY
#76
Hi Lexmex (& RX300Gary),
Thanks mucho for the DIYs on this! Never "in the history of the business" have I had a bigger PITA front door panel removal job. After a couple hours, I was getting nowhere until I read the *entire* post and found RX300Gary's screwdriver pic. Even after that, I was still guessing. So as thanks to everyone who has contributed here, I took some additional pics to fill in the blanks for the bezel and the button panel. Hope you find them useful. They're here on OneDrive:

Once every couple months, for no reason, my driver's side window doesn't want to go up. This usually happens just when it starts to rain!. The fix so far has been to pull over, turn off the ignition, then restart the vehicle. Go figure.
At least now, it it doesn't go up at all, I'll test/replace/repair that relay. Btw, Radio shack has some 9v relays that I've used in the past to repair Electronic Control Modules (aka ECM) in Fords. They hold up just fine at 12v .

Brocbrem, there r two relays for the driver side module. Do u know which relay controls what? I had my module rebuilt and it worked for awhile but now the window is stuck half way. All the other windows work from the module and from the key fob. Going to remove the panel today and see if the motor is shot and lube the rails.
Great thread BTW.

Lexmex, thank you for the great explanation. I'm assuming that since the last photo is about MISSION PITA, once that's done the panel is free to come off? Or is there another string of photos?
Great help, either way!

Just a reminder ... dont be in a hurry to put back the door panel. Leave it off for couple of days while you confirm everything is working.

Thanks to this post I was able to remove the door panel to replace the door speaker whose foam surround had rotted away. The only pronlem I had was getting the inside door lock trim bezel back into place. It appears that the "hook" at the front of the bezel isn't engaging properly so it's kinda sticking out all around. Damned if I can get it back flush!
Anybody know what's going on here?

faced similar issue with door lock bezel during reinstallation. i’m guessing that there is a clip missing that helps the bezel and mount squeeze together. that’s a guess. After several tries, i gorilla glues it into place and painters taped the bezel surface.
