Part Number Problem; Brake Pads
Recently I had trouble getting pads for the front of my 2002 RX300. The first after market set didn't fit, then the Toyota pads purchased from Lexus didn't fit. Finally got to the bottom of the problem.
There was a design change in mid 2002 and some of the latter produced 2002, like mine, actulay have 2003 year front pads that are a different design and part number. Most after market sales places are not aware of this. To find out of this ahead of pulling a pad off to take with you, call Lexus with the Vin number. This may also apply to other parts, but I am not aware of any.

I had not heard of this before.
I have previously experimented with some Hawk Performance and EBCs for my fronts on my 99 RX. The newer Toyota pads are a huge improvement over the ones I had two years ago, much longer life and improved stopping power.
