Miles on an RX300
Hello Everyone,
I am new to the board! I have a question for all of you out there and would greatly appreciate any input. My husband and I have the opportunity to purchase a 2000 RX300 with close to 90,000 miles. We have seen the maintenance records, everything appears tip top. My question is do you think 90,000 is too many miles on an RX? We already own a 99 rx with approximately 53,000 miles and we absolutely love it. Any thoughts or experiences with high miles on an RX? thanks for the help!

You call 91000 high mileage?
Given the fact that the rx is a toyota-based engine and Toyotas have been logging high mileage for years... I don't think you have anything to worry about, especially if you have car comes with updated service.
If you don't mind a little wear, seats, suspension, body, etc... Don't worry...
I always get a good chuckle out of hearing people say their high mileage (60,000 mile) vehicle needs maintenance. Engines are designed to run for hundreds of thousands of miles (given proper maintenance) let alone a quality machine like lexus...
I traded a Nissan Pathfinder for my lexus last summer. The pathfinder had 160,000+miles on it and I didn't even consider that high mileage... (traded due to cost of tires, clutch and some sheetmetal work being greater than market value of car)
I also have an bmw w/ 75000 miles and at that point the engine is just considered "mature".

I have a 2001 Awd RX. It currently has 105k miles on it. Besides my strict maint schedule, the only thing I have had to do is replace the struts. They were starting to get a little soft. I plan on 200k miles out of this thing.

our 2000 RX300 AWD has 60K miles on it and drives like it was brand new. The only thing "wrong" is the light for the dash that indicates when the truck is in drive went out about a month ago.
granted, our RX has been in the family since new and has always been maintained by the dealer and to the schedule, i would be surprised and somewhat disappointed if we don't get at least 150K out of the truck.

You all make me laugh. I just gave my old 91 Ford Ranger V6 to my dad when it passed 200,000 miles - and it is still going strong at 220,000 miles. That is good miles for a Ford.
Now, seems I remember that 4 cylinder Toyota pickup trucks from the 80's would do 300,000 miles without a hitch......... my expectation is that my 99 RX300, with Mobil One and pampering will easily do 300,000+ I expect I will get tired of the vehicle before it breaks...but the key is maintenance and treating the vehicle with care.

My 99 AWD had 101,000 Miles. I've never bring it to the dealer for tune up.

I did oil & filter change by myself using Mobil1-5W30 & original Toyota filters.
Given that reliability, I just bought another RX330 last month, and I just upgraded the original 18" rims to 20" rims to increase cornering capability.
If anyone interested on my origianal 18" wheels & tires, they're available for sale at: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...hreadid=113791
Thanks

mileage real?
I would try to get previous maintenance records.
Out of warranty? If so, the last owner may have done service is a particular dealership which I'm sure they will provide you records of...
Previous maintenance records with mileage and dates will be the best indicator of odometer tampering, or not...
