2016 Rear Suspension Upgrade for Towing
I've poked around on here and out on the web to see if there is any kind of rear suspension upgrade that will keep my RX level while towing. My trailer is well under the 3500 lb limit, but it made my Ram squat a lot in the rear & that caused the already ****-poor headlights to shine in the trees. My trailer is a dual axle 6X12 enclosed motorcycle trailer that weighs in loaded between 2500-3000 lbs. I haven't found any simple add-on or upgrade for a 2016 RX rear suspension, but maybe I'm not looking in the right areas...any suggestions?

What kind of tongue weight is your trailer when loaded. For it to drop your RAM's rear end that bad, not sure if I would put it on the RX.

I honestly don't know what the weight is, but it shouldn't be more than 600 lbs. For what it's worth, my Ram 1500 was a complete piece of crap. I could throw 200 lbs of sand bags in the bed & that piece of junk would sag in the back! I've had between 200-300 lbs in the back of the Lexus & it hasn't sagged, but I could tell I had some weight in the back. That's what has made me skeptical that I need a beefed up rear suspension.

The max tongue weight of the 3RX was 350lbs (200lbs w/o tow package) per the owners manual.
You need to adjust the trailer to avoid an accident!

In addition to stability issues, If you use the after market Hitch then you only have few bolts in tension supprting the Tongue load. Anymore than the 350lb you will risk damaging the hitch attachment points on the car rails. Thay are just few nuts.

My Curt hitch is rated at 600 lbs tongue weight & 5000 lb towing capacity. There are 6 13mm bolts holding it to the frame rails of the car. I don't plan to come anywhere near those hitch numbers. This is what my trailer looks like (minus the side door):

The Hitch might be rated for 600 lb, but the 6 nuts on the car might not be. 3 nuts per side that have to support the 600lb static. In a haevy bump that 600lb will be multiflied significantly and could cause some damage. Just my opinion.
The OEM hitch has several more bolts and brackets that are mounted to the side of the frame rails. That least they provide more load transfer to the frame instead of only through 6 bolts under tension.

Also FYI that they recommend an antisway device for anything over 2000lbs.
