Default Emails and Text Messages

I'm having a problem figuring out how to receive emails and texts in my car. I've read the manual and followed the setting directions but they still don't show on the screen. As far as I can tell, everything is set correctly on my iPhone 6s
Thought I'd ask here before taking it to the dealer

...could be you have everything properly setup on the vehicle. Did you turn on notifications on your phone? Settings/Bluetooth/ touch the circle-i icon on the right of your car's name and turn on Show Notifications. As I recall you need to reconnect your phone to get this to take effect. (or turn car off and on) If you have Nav you could try just restarting the Nav unit (push and hold vol button for 2 sec).

I haven't tried to get emails to show up cuz it would be constantly dinging!

I am still learning but it does not show any previous emails or text messages. It only shows ones that are sent after you start your trip.

I'm going over everything again. My salesmen set the texting up and it was working so it has to be something I've done since then. The emails have never worked but then you have a point. It would probably drive me crazy if it did.

Right. I sat in the car and had my friend text me. Nothing.

Have you recently updated your phone? For some reason this turns off that "Show Notifications". So I would double check that. iPhones will not pull over emails, only certains Androids will do that. Make sure you don't have the phone unlocked when the text is sent. The phone assumes you're looking at the phone and will not push it to the car.

I recently updated my iPhone to iOS 9.3.2 and when I checked after, the Show Notifications was off as mentioned by TexasRxh and offroad200. So, I turned it on and will check for incoming texts. Thanks for the tip guys.

Had an update today. Afterward the texts worked on both cars. Weird.

Default Galaxy S6 Text Messaging Issue

My 2016 RX isn't showing when text messages arrive on my Galaxy S6.

I know that the phone is setup correctly - it works with our Acura. Yesterday after a visit to the dealer, where they didn't have any idea of what the problem was other than to say it was the phone configuration, I unpaired the phone from the RX and made sure that neither system knew about the other. Setup the pairing again and it still didn't work. Reset the phone and it worked until I stopped for gas on the way home. Reset the phone again and that didn't correct the problem. Manually checked and the RX didn't know about the test messages that I sent after the phone and RX connected when I restarted the car after fueling. I bounced the connection between the phone and the RX and the RX now displayed the most recent text messages when I manually checked, but still wouldn't automatically show the test messages sent after the reconnect. The latest messages also didn't show up in the list when I manually checked.

I have to schedule time with the dealer's tech specialist. I'm not sure if they have the tools to troubleshoot or if they're just configuration jockeys.

I have a 2015 IS 250, set up phone correctly, received txt one time. Contacted Lexus.com verified all is set up right, still not working .... I've disabled and paired my iPhone 6s multiple times ... still not working. Was even advised to contact Apple for the issue, Any suggestions ?
