That enter button on the right side is kinda awkward
It's on both sides of the controller so that users can use their thumbs to click enter. That would be awkward if the driver had to use their pinky to click enter.
Not sure why we need so many ways to click enter, but I'm just glad Lexus finally put a physical back button now.
A burnt child dreads the fire?
Remote touchpad wasn't BY FAR (just ask your Lexus dealer their finest hour (poor NX/RC owners would have to live with that now…), as well as 2nd gen of remote touch (the one without side buttons) is really hard to click precisely at times, so they're playing as safe as possible
I wonder what kind of usability tests they were doing for these…? I still kinda think the 1st gen RTC is the easiest to operate and most predictable of them all… Let's see how 4th gen works.
I've had two vehicles with the second gen remote touch, and never have had any problems clicking precisely.
I only used 2nd gen 3RX for a week while my 1st gen 3RX was in the service, but simple clicks on POI icons (gas station/parking/etc) on the map (the ones that are not force-centered for you, were giving me way too much issues, resulting in scroll rather than getting info on a facility. (A bump on the road just when you're about to click… stuff like that. 1st gen construction was pretty resilient to these sort of things)
So I'm glad they have these side buttons back. Getting best of both worlds, right?
