Adding Bluetooth to 2011 RX350
I just bought a used 2011 RX 350.
Any suggestions on adding bluetooth to it? It has the radio with the "MUTE" button (not the" TRAFFIC") and no usb connector in the storage compartment. Only AUX in.
Also, where can I get spare keys ?
Thanks to all,
J

Does yours not have Navigation? Mine does and it seems to sniff out a phone, easily. Are you certain your doesn't already have Bluetooth?

No, I don't play soccer!
javier, congrats on your RX. Bluetooth has been standard since 2005 from what I remember. Can you give us more details about what packages are on your RX? It also should have come with two key fobs. Those can be purchased through a dealer. Programming and having the key cut is expensive though.

Hi Kitlz
For me this is an Upgrade from a 2004 RX330. It is a repossessed RX, so I got it without any documentation and only 1 key so I have no idea other of what package it is. From some reading it seems to have the type C radio. Leather seats with cooling - I love this feature, tropical Island here! - and full spare tire, proximity sensors, but no rear view camera. I did a VIN decoding but got not much info. Do you know if this radio is bluetooth capable or a link to a manual?

BTW, I only assumed it has no bluetooth because it has no usb connector, now that you mention that "Bluetooth has been standard since 2005 from what I remember" I could be totally wrong.

Are there "on hook" and "off hook" buttons on the steering wheel?

Great idea about checking for the buttons on the steering wheel mcomer.
Hmm, European RXs have full spares. The cargo area floor is also higher to accommodate it. But we get only a donut in the US. I'm not sure what type c radio means. As long as it doesn't have a cassette player, then you're in great shape, LOL! As far as the USB port, Lexus buried it on the bottom of the center console. They introduced extensions to make accessing it easier. On the 2011 MY, there was a power outlet added to the open area under the shifter. I only had the one next to the USB port on my '10.
Cooled (and heated) seats were part of the comfort package along with rain sensing wipers and HID bi-xemon headlights. Here's a copy of the brochure. But get in touch with Lexus to help figure out which packages you have and for the owners' manuals, assuming you don't have them. BTW, the manuals are also available online. If possible, go the Lexus owners' website and register. Have your VIN handy. Hopefully that should help solve the mystery. And ask a dealer about a replacement key fob. Sometimes they'll discount the price.
Enjoy the upgrade from your 2004 330. Though I have to say, it was a fine year

Found the manual on line. This radio (the now infamous type C) has no bluetooth, no hook unhook on steering wheel and no BT settings in the push button menu.
So I will go back to my old Jabra handsfree speaker. It works fine anyway and I'm very happy with the upgrade, got it at a nice price with only 32k miles. I will go by the Lexus dealer later in the week to find out more, they should have the original records.
The full spare is a love hate thing. Love to have a real spare but hate that the cargo area is uneven, with a box in the center, kind of tricky to accommodate items for OCD people LOL.
thanks to all!

I would recommend a Parrot MKi9100 or MKi9200.
I had one in the SUV that my 450h replaced and find I like how it handles text messages much better than what Lexus has come up with. With Drivemode enabled on an Android phone it will read incoming messages, allow you to speak a response instead of having to pick from a predefined list of responses, and initiate the composition and sending of a message through voice commands.

Second Key
I recently bought a 2015 RX350 that came with one key. I bought a "virgin" fob with a blank blade key off ebay for $85. ****Look at the information on the back of your key as well as the chip inside of your key to make sure you purchase the right key*****. I had a locksmith cut the blade key for $25 however the guy that knew how to program the fob was out on a job. They would have charged an additional $50 to program the fob which would have been excellent. I had already order a dongle with software v10.30.29.($20) off ebay so I decided to try it myself. I was able to program my key with the dongle and software. It took less than five minutes. The biggest thing to be aware of is to run the software in windows xp compatibility and have only one key in the vehicle at a time. There are youtube videos for instructions.
