Constant cycling between 'Portable player connection successful' and ...
Constant cycling between 'Portable player connection successful' and 'Portable player disconnected'.
I have a Samsung S5 android phone, and a 2013 Lexus RX350. I have paired the two successfully (bluetooth) and can both:
1) listen to streaming media from the phone, and
2) handle phone calls through the car controls
... all as expected.
But recently, I've noticed the two messages shown above ('Portable player ...") constantly cycling at the top of the map display. And if I actually set the audio to play Bluetooth media, it will play for a few seconds, then go off (as the message cycles to 'disconnected').
(edit to add: the cycling, when it happens, happens constantly every 15 seconds or so)
This is not consistent, and seems to be cleared by a restart of the car.
Anyone else experienced this?

Typically the constant connecting/disconnecting is cause by too many text messages in your phone. When you pair the phone to the car, the phone will ask if you want to give the car permission to transfer messages. It becomes an issue when you have too many texts on your phone because the car transfers all texts every time you start the car. And it overwhelms the system if you never delete old texts and cause the bluetooth to act that way. Samsungs seem to be he worst about this.
You have 2 options.
1. Keep your text threads to about 40 per person and not too many people. Most Samsungs I've seen save 1000 per person. If you never delete texts, the total number on your phone can really add up.
2. Unpair and repair the phone. Do not allow access to messages. You will lose the texting capability with the car but you will have a much more stable bluetooth connection.

Wow, thanks for that insight. On the one hand, I am not a 'texter'; I get maybe 1 per day on average (I much prefer emails). On the other hand, I have never deleted texts to my knowledge (don't even know how / never tried).
But now you mention it, I seem to recall the car also having access to at least one email account on the phone; and I do get LOTS of emails and never delete those either (although my phone only ever keeps the past few days' worth of messages).
Is there a way to stop the phone from getting emails but still keep the text feature?
Thanks

The car doesn't differentiate between texts and emails. You can however use another app to access email (K-9 works really well). The car only pulls from the native email app. Once you get the other email app setup, delete the account associated with the native email app.
I'm not sure if doing this will fix your bluetooth issue. I still feel like you'll need to delete old texts. But it won't hurt anything to try separating the email and see if that helps.

The same thing happens with my 2013 450h and a Galaxy 6. I keep my texts cleaned, so I rarely have more than 10 on the phone at any one time. When my vehicle/phone starts to do this, I reboot the phone and all is well for another couple of weeks/months.

That's a good point as well. I always suggest rebooting every few days.
