Default Bugs in the car?

I just got a great used 2013 RX last week and was loading some items from the garage to take to the recycle last weekend. I noticed a bug crawl into the perforation in the passenger seat and disappear into the cushion.

Concern: The bug will multiply and I'll have an infestation in the car. Is there a bug killer that won't damage the leather and/or the heating/cooling of the passenger seat?

Thanks
Love the car BTW!

Lou

Unless there's some food source in your car for the bug to "multiply" with, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Lou, I'm sorry you have a bug problem. Most threads I've seen had to do with rodents inside the RX, live and dead. Do you have an idea of what kind of bug it might have been? Start with a thorough cleaning to get rid of any possible food sources. And maybe look into natural (read less chemical) bug traps. They make products that are safe to use around children and pets. Or it could be something you already have at home like apple cider vinegar. It's attractive and also deadly to some bugs. Pour some into a shallow container, add a few drops of dishwashing liquid, and place it on the floor. I wouldn't apply anything to the seat. You'll never get that out and could possibly damage the finish or heating/cooling mechanism. Let's hope it's just the one bug. He won't last. Good luck.

Winter weather should kill them if it gets cold enough where you live and you leave it outside for a few days.

FYI this was a question I think I heard on Car Talk on the Radio and the guy had a full on bug infestation he could not get rid of. He had a friend with an ice business and parked his car inside the warehouse which was a giant freezer for a few days which froze them all to death.

Wow, that's extreme. But if it works, why not. They use dry ice to get rid of bed bugs. The CO2 gets them.

I had baby spiders coming out of my dashboard and air vents on my LS460. I killed as many as I could over a few days, but like someone said if there is no food source they will die off eventually.
