RX450 Driver Door Locks with Key in Car
2013 RH450
I have had several incidents with the electronic key in the car, when I return to get into the vehicle the driver side door is locked. Other doors seem to be open. This concerns me because there is the possibility I could be locked out of the vehicle. Called Lexus and they did not understand how this can happen.
Any comments, thoughts, ideas.

Please clarify, are you stating this occurs when the key is left in the car? If so, why are you leaving the key inside?
It should not be able to be locked with the key inside, even if there is an auto-lock feature turned on.

When my car is in my garage sometime I leave the key in the car. Today when I went to get into the car the drivers door was locked. Window was down so I reached in and unlocked it. I had thought that with the key in the car that could never happen.
It has happened a few time before.
Thanks

However, not just one door. Are you sure it was just the driver door locked? You would have to manually move the lock lever on the door to do this.

So the fob was in the car. I got home after playing golf. Got out of the car on the drivers side of course. I left the window down, and the fob in the car. Next day went to get in the car and the drivers door was locked. Had to reach in and unlock the drivers door. That is exactly what happened.

Just thinking out loud.
With our previous LS460 we would occasionally find a dead battery the next morning. Several other owners reported the same occasional problem. I brought the car in for service for this problem multiple times and service was stumped.
What I eventually found that fixed it was the driver door open/closed door jamb switch was intermittent. The automatic headlight logic to turn off the headlights after exiting the car used that switch to initiate the timer.
Could you have a similar intermittent door jamb switch? I know that when you use the FOB to unlock the doors, if you don't physically open the door shortly after using the FOB the doors will re-lock. Could similar logic exist where when you put the car in park and turn off engine door automatically unlocks but automatically re locks if you don't exit shortly afterwards, thinking you remained in the car?
It's a long shot but you never know with weird intermittent problems.
The way I found my switch as being intermittent was open and close driver door several times while watching the interior dome light.

Another thing you may want to try is turn off those personalized settings that lock the doors and see if any of these changes things. http://www.lexus.com/pdf/service/RXh_LPS.pdf
