Default Type of battery in Lexus key fob

Does anyone know what type of cell battery is in the Lexus key fob? Is it worth going to the dealer?

The battery is a 3 volt lithium. Cr1632. The dealer will charge you $10. I purchased a 5-pk from amazon for $5. There are videos on you tube showing how to open the key fob.

My 2014 has a Panasonic CR1632/3V.

Very easy to open. Go to Walmart and get a replacement.

Youtube videos can show you how to change battery ... very easy. Batteries are very inexpensive on eBay. Battery type may be in owners manual ... I think that is where I checked it.

Great, thanks for the info! Dealers always like to rip people off for some reason.

Question

How often is it recommended to change the battery?

Key fob battery changes are included with some services. But I typically change it myself once a year.

Cut-off voltage for the CR1632 is 2.0v.

You start with 3 and it is fully discharged at 2... it will vary by usage how long it works.

I change mine every two years. You can look in the service recommendations in the manual and see which services include a battery change ... that will give you an idea of the interval.

went to our local BATTERIES PLUS store and had a replacement installed for just under $10. Went to RADIO SHACK with previous RX - same experience. Look in owners manual for part number/description. Nothing mysterious at all to change batteries.
