We just bought a 2011 Lexus RX350 with certain features we did not want to do without, like a garage door opener, leather seats, heated seats, memory seats, and CD player that we have enjoyed during ten years of trouble-free driving our 2000 ES300. Because of our steep, gravel, and longer driveway we wanted AWD.
We were looking for a 2010 or 2011 with AWD, heated/cooled seats, leather and NAV. For colors we liked silver or Tungsten Pearl, and the other lighter colors. Starfire Pearl was too bright for us. We narrowed the search to a 2010 with 31,000 miles for $31,746, vs. a 2011 RX350 with 41,000 miles on the odometer (asking $35,800). Both vehicles had similar options and colors, Tungsten Pearl and black leather, NAV, etc. We decided to purchase the 2011 RX350, mainly because the dealer accepted my impulsive $33,000 offer. The vehicle has AWD, NAV, keyless starting, automatic rear gate open and close, and other features that we were not looking for, but appreciate.
I have a related question for newbies. Is there an easy way to determine exactly which options are on our pre-owned RX? The Saburu dealer knew little about the Lexus. The manuals do not help because they have operating instructions for everything. It seems a little time consuming to look for each one. I already found that the vehicle does not have the 120v Auxiliary power outlet, by looking where it was supposed to be and then not finding it. Of course, I had to thumb through the manuals to discover where to look.
We enjoyed ten years of virtually trouble free driving our ES300 so much, that we are convinced that Lexus is the way to go.
