Just got an offer from the local dealer on a 2013 FWD RX 350 with
(1) Comfort Package
(2) Premium Package with BSM
(3) Navigation System
(4) 19" wheels
(5) Wood- and leather-trimmed steering wheel and shift ****
(6) Towing Prep Package
(7) Intuitive Parking Assist
(8) Cargo Net, Cargo Mat, Wheel Locks and SmartAccess Key Gloves

The MSRP is $49,530. The dealer's offer was $47,297 (supposedly his cost of $46,797 plus $500). This works out to be about 4.5% off of the MSRP.

I really didn't want the NAV and the 19" wheels (MSRP for these is $3545) and asked them to search other dealers for a similar car with 18" wheels and the Display Audio Package instead of the NAV. So do you suggest I wait to hear back from them on the search or go ahead and get the car on the lot for the $47,297 price?

Many have gotten up to 12% off off MSRP as you can see on the price thread, so you can definitely do better. I was able to get my 13 RX 350 for 11.5% off MSRP. Have you contacted other dealers? Do you have other offers? I strongly suggest that you visit or email other dealers nearby if you haven't done so. Get a few offers and let them beat each other until you have a good price. Not sure how location matters, I think you should try to get at least 10% off msrp. I got mine with almost 11% off msrp last Nov in Northern Cal.

Deals vary around the country and during the time of year. Competitive markets during big sales events (such as December Sales event) can yield some big discounts. Dealers get extra $$$'s from Lexus to discount during these events. California is a competitive market, TN not so much. Some people are quoting deals with loyality cash (up to $1500) included in the deal. Your best bet is to find and read the thread that has a title something like "Discount on 2013". It contains a summary of the deals and how people got them. You should be able to do much better than the deal you were offered. That being said not everyone will get or needs a great deal ... put in an appropriate amount of effort for your situation. I do think there are some dealers in the mid Atlantic area that will offer you a good price, but you may need to travel to their dealership.

Prices here in N CA are better than other locations, especially TN. This is one of the most competitive markets in the country. I think (but do not know for sure) that Lexus has different dealer incentives in the CA market.

I've seen avg of 8 to 12 percent off debating on what options and availability they have at the time. Our local dealer usually tell you to f** off or fly to another deler to get the deal due to the fact people near by Newport beach tend to pay full price on it. Just wait for the last weekend of the month, chat with the sales on how the month went; you will tend to get a better idea if they will lower the price or not.

You better drive the 19 inch wheels a lot of people don't like the ride and would rather have the 18.

The 19" wheels are fine especially if you combine them with the Michelin tires. My 2013 rides a lot better than the 2010 I had. Both have the 19" wheels and Michelin tires. By the way the offer on the 2013 RX is a terrible deal.

I know w/ BMW the invoice price is typically around 8-9% off of MSRP for the non-M's. I'd suspect its around the same for Lexus. I'm surprised to hear about up to 12% off MSRP. Wonder if that had to do with buying out remaining inventory of the current model year just before the next year's inventory came in?

Thanks, mac12. Which Michelin tires do you have? My Lexus dealer only stocks the Latitude Tour, which isn't rated very highly by TireRack.

Regarding the deal, the invoice price is either $46,797 per the dealer and CarsDirect or $46,202 per Yahoo!Autos and Cars.com. Is paying $500 over dealer invoice so bad? That would be the dealer's offer of $47,297. Perhaps I could counter with an offer of $46,702 based on Yahoo and Cars.com's invoice price.

Cars.com showed a Smart Target Price of $47,340. CarsDirect showed a "below invoice" target price of $45,447. With no other dealers within 200 miles of here, there is little dealer competition so I would be surprised if they accepted an offer below dealer invoice like $45,447.

Nope, many have received close to 12% off on 2013 models over the last 2 months including myself. I got 11.5 % off of MSRP. Please read the price thread link that Anita posted. And the 2014 models won't be out for another 6 months or so probably. One of the reasons we were able to get such good deals is because of December to Remember, but even without December to Remember, you can try shooting for as much as 10% off.

The fact that there are no other dealerships in the area and as a result you have no other competing offers is the main reason for this not so good offer. The counteroffer that you are considering is very weak. My advice is for you to contact the next nearest dealership's internet sales department and you will probably be able to get a better price on a vehicle with more options on it. If it were me, the 300 mile trip would be worth saving money and getting a better equipped vehicle. But if money is not an issue, then all that work may not be worth it for you. That's the same Michelin tire I have(It might be the Lat. T HP). The 19" looks so much better. I've said before that you should get on Sewell Lexus web site to find a similar priced 350, then email them through the link and ask for the best price. I've just looked and there are 289 RX 350's there. I think they will give you a price of about $45.2K on a 49.5K RX. As others have said if money is no object go ahead and pay the price to your local dealer. If I were dealing with the dealer you're dealing with I'd offer 46K and maybe settle on a deal for about 46.5K. The Sewell link is below.

The big mistake you are making is getting caught up in the 'INVOICE PRICE" ...I can assure you that is not true invoice #. This was my 2nd purchase from dealer I worked with and we agreed to 10% + within few mins on the ph. . After $1000.00 incentive for using lexus financialon for financing the deal was over 12% disc with 1.9% interest @ 36 mos. My msrp was 49180 and purchased for 43100 once Incentive was brought frwd. As mentioned dont settle for less than 8-9% ,,,very doable....you dont have to always get the best of best deal just as long as its respectable and both sides can feel good. As far as 19" tires...wife drives it mainly but i've felt no issues with comfort and like very much how they look on veh as opposed to lower 18" would...fwiw ours are Michelin which is only way I would go. let us know how it works out for you.
